The Lazarus Effect

Standard

My husband is one all-around talented guy; he’s an increadible singer, is a wiz with electronics, can throw down in the kitchen, and can utterly tare up a piano, but what most people don’t know is that he is one dynamite preacher. A few months ago he preached on a little something that I’d like to talk about; the “Lazarus” effect.  Many people are plagued with something that can have a deadly effect on their spiritual life just as Lazarus’ sickness had a deadly effect on his physical life. Although it sounds quite hopless, just as Jesus called Lazarus forth out of death and into life, He can do the same for you. In order to fully be fully free and live in Jesus Christ we have to be unbound in all areas of our christian walk  just as Lazarus had to be unbound from his grave clothes. John 11:44 describles where exactly Lazarus was bound at.  “And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” All of the areas where he was bound have increadible signifiance to us: 1.binding of the hands represents the binding of our praise 2.the binding of the feet represents the binding of our walk with Jesus 3.the covering of the eyes represents our need to keep our eyes on Jesus. In order to fully come out of our “spiritual death” we have to loose our praise, we have to keep following God, and we have to keep our eyes on God no matter what! Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of His people. Webster defines inhabit as follows: 1. To live or reside in.2. To be present in; fill, dwell. Wow, isnt’ that awesome?! God literally LIVES in the praises of His people. No wonder Satan wants to bind your praise; when the praises go up the glory comes down! Also, in reference to the binding of our feet and the covering of eyes, 2 Corinthians 5:7 says that we should walk by faith. When it doesn’t seem like you know where to go or what to do, keep your eyes on Jesus and follow in His footsteps, He is the only one to trust in- He always take you where you need to go.  So until next time, keep your eyes on Jesus, follow Him all the way, and lift your praises up!

In Christ,

Mimi

  1. Amen! Praise the Lord! This really blessed me on today! It manifested something on the inside today! We all sometimes have a dead situation that often god has to speak to it and say let loose, let it go! So this woke up something on the inside of me! Amen! God Bless You!
